Premier School Photos

Another plug for premier school photos.  Are you tired of buying those awful school portraits at school? Check these out!

Sibling photos? Yes, Please!

These guys are so cute!

Another reason I’d like to plug for the premier school portraits (if you missed my other reason I shared go here) taking photos of kids outside rather than inside (like regular school pictures) helps them relax more for a more genuine smile. That’s what you want, right?!

So if you’re interested in having portraits like this instead of the really terrible ones you’re use to listen up! I’ll be sharing what you can do next week!

Premier School Portraits

For about a hot second I worked for a well known school photo company a long long time ago.  I would come home and cry it was so terrible.  I never thought I would actually be back in the school business. BUT!!! Here I am! It is WAY different than what it was when I first started because it’s the way I want to do it.  Regular school photos are just so so so terrible.  Why do people still buy them? I felt so happy last year when I checked “please do not photograph my child” on my son’s spring photo form.  He also equally enjoyed  sweatpants that day.  So I’m ramping up my school portraits and I’d like to call it “premier school portraits” to really set it apart from what parents and kids are use to.

Sibling photos? Yes, please!

There are many many reasons I think this type of portraits for school is better but one of the reasons
I am going to share with you today is that it gives
CONFIDENCE
to the students! If you had school photos of you like this wouldn’t you LOVE them???

Vertical and horizontal – totally an option.

What to wear Wednesdays: Rent the Runway

Personally this week I’ve been on CLOUD 9! It’s been such a productive hustle over here.  Before I got started in my own business I would watch the hours click by on the clock just waiting for my last art class of the day to go home so that I could go home.  And I definitely lived for the holidays.  But now? I work every single day.  I totally wouldn’t change it though because I LOVE IT! It definitely has it’s perks….but not going lie, it also has it’s disadvantages.  Being an entrepreneur is often lonesome and really really fearful!

But like I said this week has been awesome!!!! My highlights have been getting my new style guide hot off the press, launching my first and awesome Family Rep Program, AND (this one is SO BIG!!) two VERY well known photographers recognizing my photography work – I literally squealed and did a happy dance – actually I’m still doing that.

I also was REALLY excited because a few weeks ago I wrote about how red was the new color for Fall 2017. Then this popped over into my inbox….

Have you heard of rent the runway? If you’ve read my style guide (which all my client get upon booking!) then you know that I LOVE IT! It’s a great way to not spend a ton of money on gorgeous runway looking dresses to look like a BILLION dollars for your photo session. And look at that red dress?! You can find just the right red dress for you right here!

I’d love to see this dress paired with a crimson tie for your guy, floral with crimson hues dress for your little girl, and deep red suspenders and bow tie from London Jae Apparel

That’s it for now! If you’d like to read other “what to wear” ideas go to the top and just search “what to wear”. See you next week!

What to wear Wednesday: texture

Texture might be your secret weapon when it comes to what to wear. It creates a great dimension to your photos AND dresses things up a bit! If you’ve read my style guide you know I’m a big fan of dressing up for photos!

Let me help you get some ideas of clothing texture for your fall family photos!

What to wear Wednesdays: What’s in the fall

Life is sort of back to normal around here and that means WHAT TO WEAR WEDNESDAYS is BACK!

I already mentioned (even though it totally doesn’t feel like Fall is around the corner here in North Dallas) I’m going to be talking about what to wear to your fall sessions. I’m super super excited to announce that my October is fully booked for session but I do have a few spots left as of today for November.

If you’d like to schedule a session in November you can totally get your photos back in time to order Holiday Cards, prints, or products for yourself or family members.  I’m loving this heirloom locket necklace – it would make a great gift!

Ok back to What to Wear…. here are some things that are in style for the fall (according to Elle Magazine guide – because I am not that cool to make these things up)…

  • The color red
  • Couch floral patterns (also called micro florals)
  • Deconstructed shirts (think cold shoulder)
  • High collars
  • Long skirts or dresses
  • Thick belts

That’s a lot to work with!

I’ve found 2 awesome red dresses that I think would look great on camera for your fall session:

Venus Cold Shoulder Dress
Venue Pleated Flare Dress

Charlotte Russe Floral Mesh Maxi Skirt $26– I think this is a great option to use the colors that I usually recommend and try to have a little bit of the fall colors

Floral Ruffle-Trim Wrap Skirt $29

Floral Tulle Overlay Skirt $27

Floral Midi Wrap Skirt $15
