Your Phone Make Over Part II

How to take better photos of your kids

Let's keep it simple and start with the basics...

(always remember this!!)

Photograph is recording the LIGHT. So naturally LIGHT is the most important aspect in taking a photo. So the better light you have the better photo you have.

#1 Get out of the dark to take a photo and TURN off your flash (it seems like a contradiction but flash just makes your photos look really bad, just trust me on this one).

BONUS LIGHT TIP:

  • If you're inside go near the LARGEST light source and put your child so they're facing the light.
  • If you're outside and it's REALLY sunny (think a field of bluebonnets) have your child face their shadow. This will make less squinty faces. (See the photo below!)

#2 Use the back camera on your phone. The front camera is not as high quality as the back one so if you're going for quality, use the back camera.

#3 Use your volume button to take the photo. This helps you stabilize your phone and that makes a better photo. Especially when those kids move so fast.

You see her shadow? She's facing it so that her face is in the shadow and not squinty!
