Premier School Portraits

For about a hot second I worked for a well known school photo company a long long time ago.  I would come home and cry it was so terrible.  I never thought I would actually be back in the school business. BUT!!! Here I am! It is WAY different than what it was when I first started because it’s the way I want to do it.  Regular school photos are just so so so terrible.  Why do people still buy them? I felt so happy last year when I checked “please do not photograph my child” on my son’s spring photo form.  He also equally enjoyed sweatpants that day.  So I’m ramping up my school portraits and I’d like to call it “premier school portraits” to really set it apart from what parents and kids are use to.

Sibling photos? Yes, please!

There are many many reasons I think this type of portraits for school is better but one of the reasons I am going to share with you today is that it gives CONFIDENCE to the students! If you had school photos of you like this wouldn’t you LOVE them???

Vertical and horizontal – totally an option.

A few favorites from an awesome early morning perfectly dressed couple! Wowzers!
I’ve been begging for someone to wear a tulle skirt and it finally happened! Look how awesome it looks on camera!

Having photos printed in your house for all to see! It’s just not about you.  It’s about the time we’ve both invested in this photo experience.  It’s also about your future children and their children seeing these photos of how you both love each other so much! It’s much more than seeing photos – it’s about experiencing the love between the two of you that will pass down from generation to generation!

Love the details here.  These are going straight to my style guide magazine!
Hot off the press this week! I’m so excited!!!
Having details in your session make your session look more editorial.

Huge thanks for Jennifer Peterson of Lip Lock Smooches for awesome make-up!

Pretty Blue Eyes

I am a sucker for blue eyes.  It all started with my husband – beautiful blue eyes.  Then both of my kids got them and now I’m kinda partial.

When we lived in China most times it was the first (or second!) thing the locals pointed out in my kids.  Many people said that they had never seen a blue-eyed in person.  The second thing (if you’re interested) was how white my son’s skin was!

Look at little Mason’s eyes! It works even better because of the choice of color for his shirt.  LOVE this! Such a cute little guy! I also think this photo is sweet because they decided to have their photo shoot at their house.  It will bring special memories of this place for years to come.  Don’t ever rule out your house as a location possibility!

You might have heard me say it before but I think that getting photos of you and your family help you appreciate the people in your life more.  When we look at photos of our family together all the craziness of the day melts away and we slow down and appreciate the time and the people more. Everyone could use a little more of that in their life, right?
